Summary

MapTag Camera stamps your photos with the location they were taken. Your photos and the location data on them stay on your device and in your own photo gallery. We do not run user accounts, we do not sell your data, and we never upload your photos to our servers. The only data that leaves your device is an approximate set of coordinates sent to our backend so we can look up the nearby place name and map for the stamp. If you use the share option after saving, your device opens the system share sheet so you can choose where to send the stamped image.

1. Who we are

MapTag Camera (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile camera app for iOS and Android that overlays location metadata onto photos. It is a product of Zouk. For any privacy question, contact us at info@zouk.agency.

2. Information we process

  • Location. With your permission, the app reads your device’s GPS coordinates, heading (compass) and altitude to place them on the stamp. Coordinates are sent to our backend only to resolve the nearest place name and a static map image for that spot. If the network fails, the app may keep showing the current GPS coordinate with the last cached address/map when available and marks that the address was not refreshed.
  • Camera. The camera is used solely to take the photo you are capturing. Camera controls such as grid, level, flash, zoom and tap-to-focus are processed on your device and are not sent to our servers.
  • Photo library.Stamped photos are saved to your gallery in a “MapTag Camera” album. The app only writes to your gallery — it does not read or browse your photo library. A copy of your most recent shot is kept on the device to show the camera-screen thumbnail. If you choose a custom logo (Pro), the image you pick (via the system photo picker) is stored locally on your device.
  • Sharing. When you choose to share a saved stamped photo, the app hands that image to your device’s native share sheet. The destination app you select (for example WhatsApp, email or Files) handles the shared photo under its own terms and privacy practices.
  • Settings and templates. Your selected date format, units, camera guide options, stamp template and other app settings are stored locally on your device. Free templates are available to all users; Pro subscription status controls access to Pro templates and branding options.
  • Purchases. Pro subscriptions are handled by the app stores and RevenueCat. We receive only your subscription status (active or not), never your card details.
  • Ads (free tier). If ads are enabled, Google AdMob may process advertising identifiers as described in its own policy. Pro removes ads entirely.

3. What we do NOT collect

  • We do not require an account, name, email or phone number to use the app.
  • We do not upload, store, or have access to your photos.
  • We do not store your GPS coordinates on our servers beyond the momentary request needed to return a place name and map.
  • We do not send your camera guide settings, selected template, local app settings, or tap-to-focus/zoom interactions to our servers.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

4. How location data is used

When you open the camera, the app sends your coordinates to our backend, which calls Google Maps Platform (Places & Static Maps) to return the nearest place and a small map image. These requests are used only to build the stamp and are not used to profile or track you. Google’s handling of those requests is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

5. Third-party services

  • Google Maps Platform — place lookup and map images.
  • RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription management and billing.
  • Google AdMob — advertising in the free tier (only when enabled).

6. Data retention

Photos, the custom logo, your settings and the capture history live only on your device until you delete them (or uninstall the app). Your selected stamp template and camera guide settings are part of those local settings. Shared photos are controlled by the destination app or service you choose in the native share sheet. Location lookup requests to our backend are processed in memory to answer the request and are not retained as personal profiles. Basic, non-identifying request logs may be kept briefly for security and abuse prevention.

7. Your choices & rights

  • You can revoke camera, location or photo-library permission at any time in your device settings; the relevant features will simply stop working.
  • You can turn camera grid and level guides on or off in app settings.
  • You can delete any stamped photo from your gallery; the app updates to reflect it.
  • You choose whether and where to share a saved stamped photo from the native share sheet.
  • You can manage or cancel a Pro subscription in your App Store or Google Play account.
  • Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Since we hold essentially no personal data about you, contact us at info@zouk.agency and we will help.

8. Data deletion requests

MapTag Camera has no user accounts, so we hold no personal profile about you. Your photos, custom logo, settings and capture history live only on your device — delete them in your photo gallery or by uninstalling the app. To request deletion of any data that may persist off your device (for example, brief backend request logs or identifiers held by our advertising and subscription providers), email info@zouk.agency with the subject “Data deletion request”. We will action your request within 30 days. You can also reset your advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).

9. Children

MapTag Camera is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
