What is MapTag Camera?+
MapTag Camera is a free iOS and Android camera app that stamps each photo with where it was taken — the nearest place name and address, a live map, GPS latitude and longitude, compass heading, elevation and a timestamp, all burned directly onto the image.
Is MapTag Camera free?+
Yes. Every stamping feature is free to use. An optional Pro subscription removes ads, lets you hide the MapTag tag, and lets you add your own logo, text and colours.
Does MapTag Camera upload or store my photos?+
No. Your photos stay on your device and are saved to your gallery in a dedicated "MapTag Camera" album. We never upload, store or have access to your photos. Only approximate coordinates are sent to look up the place name and map for the stamp.
What location data is added to each photo?+
The nearest place name and address, GPS latitude/longitude, compass heading, elevation and the capture timestamp are drawn onto the image, and standard EXIF GPS metadata is written so the location travels with the file.
Can I use MapTag Camera for inspections or proof of location?+
Yes — that is the primary use case. The burned-in geotag and verified badge make photos suitable for construction and site documentation, inspections, insurance claims and proof-of-presence.
Does it work offline?+
You can capture and stamp photos using your device GPS without a connection. Looking up the nearby place name and the map image requires internet.
How do I remove the MapTag branding from my photos?+
